rosebud sioux tribe 2017 election timeline
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will have a Primary Election on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Candidates receiving the highest number of votes will advance to a General Election on Thursday, August 24, 2017. The winning candidate will be sworn into office following the certification of election by the Election Board.
Nominating affidavits will be accepted in the Tribal Secretary's office during the month of May 2017, as outlined in the Election Code. Candidates must me all eligibility requirements as outlined in the Election Code.
Ten (10) tribal council representative seats are open for nominations. They are Black Pipe, Butte Creek, Grass Mountain, Ideal, Milk's Camp, Okreek, Parmelee, Soldier Creek, Spring Creek and Two Strike. Tribal Council representatives will serve three (3) year terms. The filing fee for Tribal Council Representative seats is one-hundred and fifty dollars ($150). Filing fee must be paid by money order.
The tribal secretary and tribal treasurer positions are also open for nomination. These are both two (2) year terms. The filing fee for these Constitutional Officer positions is three-hundred dollars ($300). Filing fee must be paid by money order.
